There are several different methods out there for training canines. However, I cannot (and will not) say what method is best without fully assessing the dog in person. The following methods are
what I use:
• Positive Reinforcement (Praise-based Training)
• Treats (Food Reward)
• Clicker (Timing)
How Many Sessions Will It Take?
Usually one. No, seriously! We do NOT require a minimum number of sessions. There is no need for that. Most of the problems that we come across are easily resolved in the first 60-minute session.
After the initial assessment, I will correct your doggie’s behavior immediately and show you what you need to do to maintain that correction. It’s up to you (as the owner) to practice consistently what you have been taught.
There are times when I need to return for a follow up session, but that’s not a standard. My job is to not only teach your furry friend what to do, but to also teach you.
My advice is to
beware of any dog
trainer who requires
you to sign up for a specific
number of sessions...
especially if they
haven’t even
evaluated the dog!
